I've been a part of the alternative healing community for longer than I
can remember; beginning with infancy in fact. Growing up in a home where numerous people, from all walks of life, came to learn and to share their knowledge has predisposed me to a great deal of unconventional, and fascinating, information. These welcomed visitors exchanged the strengths
of different cultures and focused on wellness and harmony. They were all there; Native Americans, Indians, Pakistanis, Buddhists, near east, far east, NLP and Reiki practitioners, survivalist, nutritionist, tree huggers and oceans lovers, Christians, Jews, Gnostics, Wiccians, Catholics, Protestants and agnostics. As everyone learned more, so did I. This gave me a valuable understanding of realities outside of the main stream Americana
in which
I grew up, because everybody has a novel experience of life unique
unto themselves.
The adventures I have shared with my parents have also inspired the direction of my formal education. I obtained a Bachelors' degree in Anthropology from Louisiana State University and graduated unsatiated in
my goals of understanding the knowledge I've gained and how they may be utilized in my future. A vast, imposing chasm exists between the alternative healing practices and that of main stream medicine. This distance is riddled with conflict and controversy. Currently, I am earning
a Masters' degree in Liberal Arts as a cultural anthropologist so that I may venture into new territory and learn how to help bridge that gap. I engage the darkness
so I may reach enlightenment through understanding and experiencing
the "other." Ultimately, alternative will lose its taboo reputation and
evolve in our minds to merely indicate choice.
One of my most poignant, yet simple, lessons during my childhood was
to learn that I can only do so much; the Divine has a plan. I look forward
to doing my part. My connection with Goodlife Modalities is simply
the next adventure, one, I hope, will last a lifetime.
